Manhunt is a stealth-based psychological horror video game created by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was released in North America on November 18, 2003 for the PlayStation two and on April 20, 2004 for Xbox and Computer, and in Europe on November 21 for the PS2 and on April 23 for the Xbox and Computer. Even though it received optimistic testimonials by critics, Manhunt is effectively known for controversy, due to the level of graphic violence in the game. The game was banned in numerous countries, and implicated in a murder by the UK media, even though this implication was later rejected by the police and courts. In October 2007, Manhunt 2 was released to even more controversy. As of March 26, 2008, the Manhunt series has sold 1.7 million copies worldwide. At the 7th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, the game was nominated for "Console Action Adventure Game of the Year". In 2010, it was included in 1001 Video Games You Have to Play Ahead of You Die, and listed at #85 in IGN's "Top one hundred PlayStation 2 Games". Manhunt is a stealth-based psychological horror game played from a third-individual perspective. The game consists of twenty levels, referred to as "scenes", as nicely as 4 unlockable bonus levels.
